The Methods Team is part of the Centre of Research in Epidemiology and StatisticS (CRESS UMR-1153). CRESS was established in 2014. This centre is linked to a Research and Higher Education Cluster at the Sorbonne Paris Cité University. CRESS includes 7 research teams specialising in the fields of epidemiology and biostatistics, and brings together about 320 people, including 90 tenured researchers and 65 PhD students.

The objectives of our research centre are the following:

On the scientific level:

  • Developing our attractiveness and attracting new talented researchers from France and abroad

  • Facilitating the acquisition of human and material resources needed in order to lead our research

  • Facilitating the mobility of researchers within our seven teams

  • Facilitating the development of new researchers : training, support for mobility, securing jobs

  • Increasing the competitiveness of our research teams

  • Facilitating national and international collaborations/partnerships

  • Ensuring a continuum between methodological, epidemiologic and clinical types of research

  • Facilitating the emergence of new scientific questions and the development of multi- and interdisciplinary scientific projects

On the political level:

  • Improving visibility on public health among the Sorbonne Paris Cité University Research and Higher Education Cluster (PRES in French)

  • Improve visibility of Sorbonne Paris Cité University Research and Higher Education Cluster in the field of public health/public health care

  • Participating to the elaboration of high-level research programmes in the field of public health in France

  • Elaborating an ambitious scientific strategy for our research centre and its teams

  • Fostering the creation/emergence of the new research teams in public health within the Sorbonne Paris Cité University Research and Higher Education Cluster (PRES in French), whether they are coming from the research centre or other PRES research teams
